Phillips Hong Kong Jewels And Jadeite Auction Showcasing Fine Jewelry Pieces

On May 27, 2019 Phillips auction house will hold its annual Hong Kong auction and will present several nice Jewellery pieces. On pure investment analysis, none can be considered an investment piece. The other way to see any of them as investment pieces is if they could be purchased at a price that is inferior to the market price. In this case, due to the auction buyer’s premium, it really removes that potential gain.

A 2.63 carat, Fancy pink diamond in a nice ring is being valued at between $360k to $420k or $137k to $160k per carat. This diamond has a half certificate, which means that it most likely has an I clarity. It is over valued at this range.

A 1.23 carat, Fancy Gray-Blue diamond with an SI1 clarity is being valued at between $180k to $250k total or $146k to $203k per carat. Based on a balanced color between gray and blue, it should sell for this range.

A 2.04 carat, Light Pink diamond with an Internally Flawless clarity is being valued at between $130k to $150k in total or $64k to $74k per carat. Due to the clarity, the range of value is appropriate.

A 0.73 carat with a 0.70 carat, round, Fancy Intense Pink Diamonds are set in a pair of earrings. They are valued between $110k to $120k or $77k to $84k per carat. This is also valued properly. It might have a chance to sell at higher than this range. Let’s keep an eye open on this pair.

A 4.01 carat, Fancy Vivid Yellow Diamond is being offered between $100k to $120k or $25k to $30k per carat. A weak intensity of a Vivid Yellow is valued properly at this range. Let’s see what it sells for.

A 1.25 carat Very Light Pink with a VS1 clarity and a 1.18 carat Fancy Yellow with a VS2 clarity are set in a twin ring. The ring is valued between $48k to $58k total. This ring is over valued in my opinion.

A 3.86 carat, Fancy Yellow-Green Diamond with an SI1 clarity is being offered at between $45k to $55k in total or $11.7k to $14.2k per carat. It may be a weak color, but it might also surpass this value range. Let’s follow up after the auction.

For these types of items, it is important to remember that due to the pretty high buyer’s commission of over 25%, it makes these pieces become quite expensive to acquire as an investment. This is the potential return being given up.
